APS Payroll
Compliance validation that increased capacity without adding staff.
New-hire reporting spans fifty sets of rules. PraxisIQ built a validation and correction workflow that clears the routine work and routes anything ambiguous to a person.
- 80%+
- of common errors corrected automatically before review.
- ~70%
- less manual review, because reviewers only see exceptions.
- < 60s
- from ingestion to a clean, validated output file.
Figures supplied and approved by APS Payroll.
Rule complexity, not volume, was the constraint on the team.
- 01Every state defines its own format, fields, and submission path.
- 02Addresses, ZIP codes, and state codes arrived incomplete or malformed.
- 03Staging, validation, and delivery lived in disconnected steps.
One path from incoming file to approved delivery.
Routine corrections are handled by rule. Anything ambiguous is quarantined with its reason attached and routed to a specialist, so nothing is submitted without an approved review path.
- 01
Parse
State files read in each jurisdiction's own format.
- 02
Validate
Structure and required fields checked per state.
- 03
Correct
Known address, ZIP, and state-code errors fixed by rule.
- 04
Quarantine
Ambiguous records held with the reason attached.
- 05
Review
A specialist approves corrections in a console.
- 06
Deliver
Approved files sent over secure transfer with a run log.
Under the hood
- Validation service
- A FastAPI service ingests state files, applies per-state parsing rules, and logs every run.
- Deterministic correction
- High-confidence fixes for known address, ZIP, state-code, and missing-data patterns are rules, not model inference.
- AI reasoning layer
- Ambiguous errors get a proposed correction with reasoning, surfaced for approval rather than applied silently.
- Delivery and audit
- Approved output moves over the existing secure SFTP path; inputs, corrections, approver, and output are retained together.
“Nine address corrections were made in under a minute, a task that generally takes over 30 minutes manually.”
- Delivered today
- Automated validation, correction, quarantine, review, and secure delivery in production, governed and measured in FuseIQ.
- Planned next
- Coverage for states that require web-portal submissions, using secure browser automation. Portal states are not automated today.
- Projected
- The fifty-state foundation is designed to absorb 10% to 20% volume growth without additional review workload.
