01What an FDE does

Not consulting. Not staff augmentation. Ownership.

  1. 01

    Find the real problem

Translate an ambiguous business problem into a defined, measurable AI use case.

  2. 02

    Build in the real environment

Design agents, workflows, integrations, controls, and evaluations inside the customer's systems.

  3. 03

    Own the outcome

Stay accountable through deployment, stabilization, adoption, and handoff.

An FDE does not leave behind a recommendation. An FDE leaves behind a working system.

02The FDE pathway

Your path from technical talent to trusted deployment leader.

  1. 01

    Apply

Submit your experience, technical capabilities, certifications, interests, and availability.

  2. 02

    Qualify

Complete technical, problem-solving, communication, and customer-readiness assessments.

  3. 03

    Learn

Complete the PraxisIQ FDE curriculum across AI systems, enterprise workflows, agents, governance, and production deployment.

  4. 04

    Certify

Earn verified PraxisIQ credentials and connect qualifying third-party certifications.

  5. 05

    Shadow

Work alongside a Senior FDE or Principal on controlled, supervised delivery activities.

  6. 06

    Deploy

Become eligible to be matched to PraxisIQ projects based on skills, experience, availability, and project requirements.

  7. 07

    Advance

Progress from Associate FDE to FDE, Senior FDE, and Principal.

Certification and network membership do not guarantee project placement. Project eligibility depends on customer demand, demonstrated capability, availability, security requirements, and project fit.

07FAQ

Questions engineers ask before applying.

What is a Forward Deployed Engineer?
An engineer who works inside a customer's environment from problem definition through production, owning the use case, the build, the controls, and the handoff.
Who can apply?
Experienced AI, software, data, cloud, and automation engineers, early-career engineers and computer science graduates, and specialists interested in project-based work.
Do I need previous AI experience?
No. Strong engineering fundamentals and customer-facing judgment matter most. The curriculum covers AI systems, agents, governance, and production deployment.
Which certifications are recognized?
PraxisIQ FDE credentials, plus qualifying third-party credentials from issuers such as Microsoft and Anthropic. Third-party credentials are issued by those organizations and recorded by PraxisIQ as verified.
Is training paid?
Training terms are confirmed during qualification and depend on the pathway and engagement type. Ask us during the application conversation.
Does certification guarantee a project?
No. Certification and network membership do not guarantee project placement. Project eligibility depends on customer demand, demonstrated capability, availability, security requirements, and project fit.
Are projects full-time or contract-based?
Both models exist. Engagement type is agreed per project based on scope, duration, and the requirements of the customer environment.
Can current students apply?
Yes. Early-career engineers and computer science students can apply and begin at the Associate FDE level.
How does mentorship work?
Certified members begin with supervised delivery. A Senior FDE or Principal reviews architecture, customer readiness, governance controls, and deployment quality before independent ownership.
How is customer information protected?
Members work under confidentiality obligations and the customer's own security requirements. Customer data stays in the customer environment and is never used in public materials.
